Noodles' review is just about exactly what I was going to write. Our old ProAroma was a better machine. It's hard to believe anyone at Krups would think it was an improvement to lock out all controls except "off" when the machine is on program mode. You want to change the program? Set the program "off" time longer? You have to turn it off to do that. Then, when you turn it back on to keep the coffee warm, it thinks you want to brew a new pot, and starts an "empty reservoir" alarm. The automatic start program doesn't cancel after it runs, it stays on. Uhhh... Krups? It's obvious that I would have to actively tend to the machine - like add a filter? Coffee? Water? before it makes coffee again. Wouldn't it make sense to assume that I would be capable of setting the program again at that time? Krups thinks you should be forced to remember to turn the program off (not possible when it's still warming the carafe!) if you don't want to use it. If you forget LATER, after the program time has run it's course, it starts the "empty reservoir" alarm nice and early Saturday morning. Our ProAroma was completely programmable any time - and it had more features. This machine is definitely a step down. Oh, wait - I forgot - the carafe has a lid that won't come off, won't open far enough to stay open by itself, and stained brown in a month. How am I supposed to fit this in the dishwasher - with the lid closed? I guess so. I wish the old carafe with the snap-on, snap-off lid would fit this thing. OK, so I got it for $60, much cheaper than the last few (non e-bay) ProAromas would have cost me. But I feel bad that I didn't just spend $20 on Mr. Coffee. I think this machine was not only built in China, it was designed there by someone who had never laid hands on a ProAroma. Coffee is fine, but so is it when I boil water in a kettle and pour it over the grounds in a Melitta filter...this is just handier. The machine feels sturdy, not cheap. My gripe is in the programming. Oh, yeah, I forgot - they moved the electronics back under the heating element, where coffee and water get spilled on it. Not up high like the ProAroma's.

Penn plax Betta bow Front Tank Kit Review

Penn plax Betta bow Front Tank Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have had 2 of these tanks and they seem to be OK at first. They don't look bad and it's small so it doesn't take up much space on top of a book shelf or a dresser. But we have and 2 of them. I never put the trees in because I was afraid the fish would hurt themselves on them seeing as the space is limited as it is. The first tank we used the "water release cap" every time we changed water unless I was going to clean the whole tank. One day I cleaned the tank and the next morning the water was almost completely drained, poor fish! And the DVD's, VHS videos, and the CD's I had in the shelf that the tank sat on were all wet! I was extremely unhappy so I took it back to the store and got my money back. I went back to the pet section of the store and talked to the department manager who said they have never had a problem with them and sell several. So she convinced me to get another one. I brought it home and set it up but this time I haven't used the water release cap in the bottom of the tank, I only poured the water out of the top of the tank to change it. Well, I will say that this tank lasted a little longer than the first one but again, this morning I woke up and found the poor fish almost dead in about a quarter of an inch of water and again, my shelf of CD's, DVD's, and video tapes all wet again! I have called the company this time but of course, they were busy "helping other customers" and I had to leave a message for them to get back to me. They have yet to return my call.
So, the bottom line with the product, if you value your pets and your furniture and don't want to put your fish bowl in a bowl to catch the draining water, is don't waste your time and money on this fish tank. It will cost you more in the end to replace the damage that it does than buying a decent tank to begin with will.

We've had to repair this unit twice since purchasing. The ice maker broke within a year of purchasing and cost us more than $200 to repair. Few years later the motherboard died causing the refrigerator side to not get cold - this repair cost us more than $300. Apparently you can't count on Amana to make a reliable product. We won't be purchasing anything from them ever again.

Honeywell HWM450 Quick Steam Warm Moisture Humidifier Review

Honeywell HWM450 Quick Steam Warm Moisture Humidifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Don't mean to be a humidifier geek but researched A LOT of them before settling on this one so maybe the reviewer before me should have given it another chance before returning it. At night if you set it to low there is no loud gurgling/boiling noise, and if you have the tank reasonably full there are never any distracting noises. Also wanted a "pure" clean mist, easy maintenance, and of course effectiveness. I liked the features, functionality, and design of this one over the others, so I paid a bit more and got it even though the size and all the features are gravy as far as I'm concerned.
What sets this system apart from the others is the following: A large LCD display shows the current humidity level and there are three separate digital controls - output level, moisture, timer - each of which you can set exactly. What makes this efficient is you can DIGITALLY set the humidity to your EXACT preference - anywhere from 25 to 65. If you want it to shut off when you leave for work, set the timer - 1 to 18 hours. A four gallon output and 1400 square foot range makes it convenient.
It's warm mist so no filters ever need to be puchased but in due course you'll need to get new mineral pads which sit over the stainless steal heating element. I think Honeywell has or is getting a patent for the heating element. Humidifiers are almost always used during winter so why did they invent cool mist ones anyway?
It looks good, works well, is compact, and so far satisfied with the operation and paying a bit more for this model. Maybe Honeywell is trying to be serious about the quality of its products *shrug* who knows. The only non-critical issue is a light indicator should turn on when the desired humidity level is reached but it doesn't. Don't like when I buy something and even the simplest stated feature doesn't work, but in this case will let it slide as no other functionality is affected.
Bottom line - even if all you need is a simple, small humidifier, with few features, you might be happier getting this one instead.
UPDATE, November 28, 2005
Reviewer: B. Ahmed "lazer30" (Mars) - See all my reviews

Just an update to my previous review. Exchanged the unit since the indicator was not turning on when the desired humidity level was reached. Seems it was a burnt out bulb. When the desired humidity is reached the indicatior does in fact go on, the humidifier stops discharging, then when the room falls below the desired humidity level the unit starts back up again.
Another thing: it's a good idea to clean this unit regularly - perhaps once a week. I read another guy's post where he used CLR in the cleaning routine. Might try that as the heating element can never be cleaned to look like brand new without using something. Honeywell writes in the manual there will be some stains left on the heating element but this should not affect performance.

Jura-Capresso 13413 Impressa F8 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center Review

Jura-Capresso 13413 Impressa F8 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center

I received this as a Chirstmas gift, I could not fathom spending this amount of money on something for myself. At any rate, I love coffee, espresso and all other coffee flavored drinks so trust me when I say,
"this was a wonderful surprise" for a true coffee lover. In the long run, not only was I worth the price, but it has actually paid for itself with the money I have now saved not going to coffee houses, @ $5.00 and up per cup, and for a much better cup than those they were selling. This is definitely for the coffee lover, not occassional drinker, who has everything else. Oh! space helps too, it not a small item. Extremely well packaged, dependable, and sturdy. FYI. I waited a year and a half before leaving this review, I received it Dec.25, 2008. Used everyday, multiple times per. The filters are a bit expensive but you get a good length of time on them, the can be purchased cheaper online and in bulk.

Intex Wet Set 15 ft x 42 in Frame Set Pool Review

Intex Wet Set 15 ft x 42 in Frame Set Pool
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this pool last Memorial Day (2006) and have left it up all winter (fortunately we really don't have winter near Houston though) and it has been great. It took almost two weeks to get the chemicals/levels of the water correct and since then it has been clear with very little maintenance. We leave the pump running pretty much all the time and keep a chlorine floater in all the time and other than cleaning the filter and replacing it every few months and occasional vacuuming that's it! MUCH better than an inflatable ring pool (we had one the year before and took it down and gave it away), definitely worth a few more $. We shopped and shopped and haven't regretted this purchase at all. It's that time of year that I started shopping every year before for an inexpensive pool so hope this helps anyone looking.

Mr. Coffee 10-Cup Thermal Coffeemaker - Black/ Stainless Steel Review

Mr. Coffee 10-Cup Thermal Coffeemaker - Black/ Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have had one of these for quite a while now, and love it. As with any thermal carafe, you need to warm up the thing in order to make sure it keeps your coffee hot. Of course, you dont want to make coffee with hot water, so I fill the thermos half way with hot water, then the rest of the way with cold. This primes the thermos properly, and my coffee stays piping hot for hours.
This coffee maker has a control for "strong" brew, which is great, because I can make a proper cup this way. Also, it comes with a "water filter" that sits on top of the coffee basket. This has the added effect of keeping the grounds in the filter better, so I can almost fill the basket with grounds, without having them end up in my cup. The result of these 2 features is that I can make an amazingly strong pot of coffee, just the way I like it.
The timer dial is a bit trippy, but has worked just fine for us.
Overall, I would have to say this is one of the best coffee makers I have ever used, and the price point makes it an excellent value.
I strongly recommend this product.
